To better represent the gender diversity of the people who read us and those we talk about, we have chosen to implement inclusive writing practices in our written communications. Our approach aims to make our texts more accessible while respecting the plurality of gender identities.
Here are the main techniques you will find in our writings:
Neutral Formulations
Whenever possible, we favor neutral formulations, meaning those free of gender markers. For example, we use older persons instead of seniors. These choices not only include a broader range of people but also ensure greater accessibility.
Use of Neologisms
In some cases, we use terms that have not yet been included in common dictionaries. For example, when a non-binary person prefers a specific term to define themselves (e.g., coordonnataire), we respect this lexical choice. However, to ensure optimal comprehension, we limit the use of neologisms to situations where they are necessary.
Inclusive writing is an essential tool for reflecting our commitment to inclusion and respect for all identities. To learn more or deepen your understanding of this topic, we invite you to take our training on inclusive writing.
