Psychological and sexual harassment in the workplace is a significant issue, particularly affecting LGBTQ+ individuals. To raise awareness among businesses and employees, Fondation Émergence, in partnership with the Conseil du Patronat du Québec (CPQ) and with funding from the CNESST, has launched a project aimed at addressing these forms of harassment.
An initiative to understand and take action
This project has helped educate employers and workers on the different forms of harassment and their specific impacts on LGBTQ+ communities. Several key actions were implemented:
- A survey conducted among the Quebec population to better understand the scope of the issue and the realities faced by those affected.
- A social media awareness campaign, sharing survey results and providing concrete solutions.
- 10 educational videos illustrating various workplace harassment scenarios, along with explanations and practical advice.
- An updated training program to equip businesses with tools to combat psychological and sexual harassment affecting LGBTQ+ individuals.
To support this initiative, we developed a series of 10 awareness and informational videos:
- Psychological Harassment – Definition
- Sexual Harassment – Definition
- No Harm Intended, But Still Harassment
- Sexual Harassment: The Challenge of Speaking Out
- Harassment: The Role of Witnesses Matters!
- When Sexual Harassment Comes from a Client
- Denying Gender Identity Is Harassment
- Cyber Harassment and Asexuality
- What to Do If You Experience Harassment?
- What to Do If You Witness Harassment?
A social media awareness campaign
Alongside these efforts, a social media campaign was launched to reach a broad audience and encourage businesses to adopt inclusive and respectful workplace practices.
