Gala Émergence
The Gala Émergence is an annual event organized by the Fondation Émergence since 2003, aimed at recognizing and celebrating individuals and organizations that stand out for their commitment to fighting homophobia and transphobia. Presented by Banque Nationale, this gala brings together various actors from the community, political, artistic, and business sectors, all united in promoting inclusion, diversity, and respect for the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals.
During this evening, several awards are presented, including:
- Laurent-McCutcheon Award: Given to a person or group that has made an outstanding contribution to advancing LGBTQ+ rights or fighting against homophobia and transphobia.
- Janette-Bertrand Award: Presented to a non-LGBTQ+ individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to combating homophobia and transphobia.
- Coup de Cœur Award: Awarded to a personality or organization that has carried out a remarkable act during the year, contributing to the fight against homophobia and transphobia.
- Academic Award: Honoring a figure from the academic community distinguished by their teaching and research related to combating homophobia and transphobia.
- Engagement Award: Recognizing the work of a governor for their long-term commitment and involvement over the years.
- EDI+ Award: Acknowledging an equity, diversity, and inclusion initiative within a company that has made the workplace more inclusive and respectful of sexual and gender diversity.

The Gala Émergence is much more than just an awards ceremony; it serves as a vital platform to celebrate achievements, inspire commitment, and strengthen connections between the various actors involved in promoting LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion. By highlighting inspiring examples and concrete initiatives, this gala raises public awareness, mobilizes resources, and encourages collective action for positive and lasting change.
